Flower Beauty-Drew Barrymore's Makeup Line

When I heard a couple of months ago that Drew Barrymore was creating a makeup line, I was actually beyond excited for a celebrity line for once. Usually, I am not a huge fan of famous faces hocking a product they had nothing to do with creating but in regard to Miss Drew, I was all ears. You see, ever since Drew Barrymore made a little movie called Never Been Kissed, I have always had sort of a girl crush on her (if you haven't seen it please do yourself a favor and get on that). She is cute and easy to relate to, I mean have you read her interview in Harpers Bazaar? She's adorbs and I loved her CoverGirl ads so why wouldn't her own makeup line, Flower Beauty, pique my interest? FYI- her stint as a CoverGirl spokesperson the only one ever to land a co-creative director title as well.

What else appeals to me about this makeup line is that it is not unattainable for the average woman. It's not unheard of for me to go into Walmart or Target and pick out a new lipstick as a pick me up, because in general, the makeup available at these stores is in my price point. Not only did Drew put a lot of thought into the product itself but a decidedly upscale feel to the packaging and Drew's promise of long wear, make me want to grab a handful to try.

"I grew up in a makeup chair, And to see the women around me getting ready was so aspirational. It's about mothers and daughters, a girl watching her mom at a vanity table. I didn't want a cold campaign with severe messaging. I wanted warmth and acceptance and self-love."- Harper's BAZAAR February 2013

Drew and the Flower Beauty line for Walmart
I honestly cannot decide what I would want to try first, because I obviously can't buy one of everything at this stage in the game. I do love lipsticks and they are a super easy way to change a look in one swoop, so I think I might grab one of the Lip Service Lip Butters. I love a shiny finish and smooth application.
Lip Service Lip Butter, $6.98
  • Buttery-like texture glides on easily, leaving lips looking smooth and full
  • Rich texture provides an optical plumping effect
  • High percentage of emollient oil for a super-smooth, shiny finish
  • Non-Tacky Superior Shine
I also think I am in the market for a new primer as well, maybe something that is as effective as the one I currently used but maybe half the price. Why not give the Flower in Your Prime Perfecting Primer a try? There are only a few products that I will forever pledge my loyalty to and my current primer is not one of them...

Flower in Your Prime Perfecting Primer,  $12.98
  • A targeted primer that instantly resurfaces skin for a smoother and more even appearance
  • Apply to fine lines, large pores or rough spots for an immediate smoothing effect
Ever the nail polish junkie, I'll have to give Drew's nail lacquer a try. Less expensive than your Essie's and OPI's this may be a good alternative to spending tons of sweet moola and also having a good quality polish that won't chip that day. There are over 12 shades to choose from so I might have to grab more than one ;-)
Flower Nail'd It Nail Lacquer, $4.98
  • Long-lasting
  • Vibrant classic and on-trend 3-FREE (free of DBP, toluene & camphor)
  • Non-Chipping Immaculate (or Incredible) Formula
"Nobody's in gold rain or running through a jungle with their lipstick on," she says. "It was just me and some great music on a white background. That's every girl, in her closet getting ready."-Harper's BAZAAR February 2013

Drew's line, Flower Beauty, is available at select Walmart stores starting today and is also available online so it is super easy to find and/or order if you don't like to fight the crowds. So what do you think? Will you be giving this line a try? If you do, please let me know what you think!

  1. I look forward to trying her line! I hope that she will continue to promote it. I am glad that she went with an affordable line instead of something more expensive.
