Florence and the Machine, "Ceremonials" Album is Fashionable Music

Dude, I know that I rave about Florence and the Machine all the time but I have been listening to their newest album NON STOP and have you checked out her gorgeous cover of the January 2012 issue of Vogue UK? I am girl crushing hard!

Just like their first, the "Ceremonials" album does not disappoint. Not only does Flo tickle my fashion fancy but her music is something that I could listen to all day long. I am totally digging this tune (video below for your viewing pleasure) because it is passionate and the anti-pop, which frankly, I grow tired of.

What do you think of Florence and the Machine? Are you a fan yet?

There is nothing I love more than a good recap! As we near the end of 2011 and are gearing up for 2012, I would just like to revisit some of what I deemed to my favorite fashion moments of 2011. You may not agree with all of them but hey! we are all entitled to our opinions!

Fave Casual Looks:  Cameron Diaz looks super cute and effortless in white skinnies and black heels and shirt coming out of her NYC hotel this Summer. Hillary Duff joins 'Danskin: Move For Change' and looks ADORBS with her baby belly and still looks gorge. Kate Winslet looks so much better than I do by just throwing on a scarf and while I am jealous, I still heart her big time.

Sophisticated and Simple: Anne Hathaway attends the "The Iron Lady" New York premiere and looks so put together with simple chic. Evan Rachel Wood at the 2011 GUCCI Awards For Women and Katie Holmes at the Jack and Jill premiere has a pop of color that make me swoon without going outside the box too much.

Retro Chicks: Evan Rachel Wood looks like a modern day flapper at the LACMA Art + Film Gala this past November. Have I ever mentioned that I love Evan Rachel Wood? Scarlett Johansson at the "I Bought a Zoo" premiere has this pinup-esque look that I think is gorgeous and totally attainable. LOVED IT.

I am Engaged, but this won't become a Wedding Blog

So I don't know if you've heard yet... yeah, that's right, I got engaged this past weekend.  I was not expecting it at all so I am riding high on the surprise of my year and also basking in the glow of the extra attention that I am getting. As I sit and look at my ring (as shown below in a picture taken by the man, pre-proposal), I am tempted to start sharing all of my ideas and thoughts and wishes and wedding dreams in a blog post... but one blog post will turn into two, then three then four... then next thing you know, I am posting for the next year and a half with wedding updates and losing people's interest in the process. In the interest of keeping my blog going in the direction that I want (Fashion, DIY, Crafting Etc), I am going to keep my wedding oozing strictly on Pinterest (follow my boards via my sidebar) and mayhaps the occasional twitpic.

If you ever feel like I am talking too much about the impending wedding in a forum meant for fashion or crafty fun, you give me a swift kick to the head via the internets and I will surely slow my roll. I want to keep my peoples happy and continue to grow Prim and Propah as best I can! <3

Rooney Mara Hits the Fashion Scene Hard

Rooney Mara is positioned for a big career if The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo does as well as it is supposed to do (I read the books and obvi will be in line to see the movie) and with this rise to fame imminent, she is doing one heck of a job bringing a personal style to the scene with some edgy and yet almost feminine fashion statements from some heavy hitting designers.

She looks fierce in this Prabal Gurung number from her NYC TGWTDT Premiere. While the dress has some killer angles, the sheer accents make her look elegant. Mama likes.

At the London premiere she could have looked completely angelic in her Givenchy Haute Couture by Riccardo Tisci gown but with her blunt banks and piercing eyes, she keeps that fashion edge going by mixing sweet with sass.

She rocked out this Roksanda Ilincic jumpsuit and Brian Atwood pumps at the movie's Stockholm premiere... guys, I am not usually a hug fan of jumpsuits but this one in navy? Hello, I think Rooney looks amazeballs.

What do you think? Can you see Rooney Mara keeping this up and becoming known for fierce style? I am curious to see her out and about to see what her personal day to day style looks like.

What is Rihanna Thinking?

I love Rihanna as much as the next person. Hello, her song with Nicky Minaj is amazeballs but can someone please tell me what about this look is cool? This is a shot from her concert in Madrid this week and this looks to be, what? a studded/jeweled/bedazzled bikini? #1 I don't find this flattering and #2 You can look crazy without looking horrible, am I right? I have seen Rihanna look edgy and fashion forward without looking slightly deranged and kind of schlumpy... do you agree with me?And yes, it is OK to disagree with me as well.

Scarlett Johansson Looks Retro Glam

ScarJo has been on the circuit lately, promoting her new movie "I Bought a Zoo" (which I will admit, does look pretty cute) and has been looking uber retro chic! I love her hair the most, the dress and the strappy peep toe heels most definitely complete a pin up look.

Can I create this look at home? Obviously with a little motivation you can! As far as the hair is concerned, I found this great tutorial online which can help you create the do! Clothing wise, it's totally easy to come up with your own version of her premiere look.

Good Night Gilda Equals Divine

Can I just fill you in on some of my newest crushworthy lingerie from this brand called Good Night Gilda? It's retro inspired (something you know I am always up for) and is for the fuller busted woman (hello, I am there too) which to me equals Heaven. The line is sexy without being scandalous and dare I say it, I would just want to wear this around the house... I know, I know, how very housewife of me! This stuff is gorge though, wouldn't you agree?

Brooklyn Decker makes me want Aqua and Orange

I love when a stylist puts something together that I would never have really thought to match up but once I see it. I am like "That is pure genious!" This is one of those situations. Now I don't usually pay attention to Brooklyn Decker because frankly, she hasn't really impressed me. That all changed when I saw her flowy aqua dress and orange peep toe heel ensemble at the 2011 Unicef Ball. Guys, I am smitten as a kitten with this outfit. Am I crazy or is it a really cool and attainable look?

A Girl can Dream: Coach's Blogger Bag

If you are a female blogger you have no doubt heard about the collaboration between Coach and fashion blogger, Emily Johnston of Fashion Foie Gras. You know what I am talking about, the Fashion Fois Gras Tote, the Holy Grail of handbags for busy gals on the go. I, like many of you, am quite smitten with this gorgeous bag from Coach. It's large, something I appreciate and it's got some classic detailing that is appealing to my eye. I would absolutely LOVE to have this bag in my handbag arsenal...So, what is the problem then? Gah, where am I supposed to get $600 (add that tax, girls) for bag? I just spent $600 to fix my car and I will be perfectly honest when I say, I think the car lends itself to being more useful in my daily life... dang reality checks! So for now, I will only longingly hope that someone very wealthy gifts this bag to me and in the meantime, as cheesy as it sounds, dreaming is free!

Obsession Alert: Hairstyles from the New Year's Eve Premiere

Admittedly, I do not want to see New Year's Eve (the movie), at least not spend good money on it, as it will undoubtedly be a disappointment just as *Valentine's Day was. I don't know if I will ever see **New Year's Eve, in the movies or at home... But the premiere and the hairstyles at the premiere? Now that is a different story.

The premiere was last night in Hollywood and the hair, well the hair was to die for. My top pick? Fergie. Those of you who know me, know that I absolutely despise her Dr. Pepper Cherry ads on TV (I love the soda though) and thusly have been annoyed with her for the past year or so. This all changed for me when I saw her hair last night. Blond, worn down and in retro feeling waves with a sassy side part. I am smitten with this hairstyle and paired with a red lip? Hello.
Photo by Jason Merritt/Getty Images North America

Hilary Swank went with a Fergie-ish do as well and that is why she is an honorable mention. I think I am really falling for the side part and Veronica Lake type waves that are being channeled on the scene. Her dramatic earring and hair falling to one side make this a fab look in my book. Katherine Heigl always looks lovely to me. Her hair is short a la Killers and I think that he look is chic and also effortless. I know that you could toss some hot roller in and do this at home no problem. She looks stunning with the statement jewelry and strapless gown.
Photo by Jason Merritt/Getty Images North America

Abigail Breslin has grown up, am I right? In one of her first more adult roles, she certainly showed up for the premiere ready to turn heads. She looks effortless and age appropriate with the half up and half down and you can tell that her hair dresser just added some loose curls to the length of her hair. I think she looks flawless. Christin Lakin (remember her from Step by Step anyone? Bueller?) it rocking some fierce bangs. I mean, I am actually thinking about heading out getting bangs and letting my hair grow just a smidge longer to pull this look off. She looks HOT without looking trashy and I like that.

Do you agree with me and my love of these styles? Or do you think I am off my rocker?

*Even though I know that Valentine's Day was a horrible movie, I have still seen it more than once.
** I will more than likely seen New Year's Eve more than once. Hello, Zach Efron is in it.

Shoemint, is it Worth the Hype?

Let me preface this post by saying that I was and am still excited to see what Shoemint comes up with but as a start? I am a little disappointed. Let me explain: I am signed up for Jewelmint and Stylemint so it was no surprise to me that Shoemint was launching (because I got a ton of emails about it and it is plastered in my ad choices on every site I visit) so I was most definitely ready to see what Rachel Bilson, Steve Madden and Nicole Chavez brought to the table. Well, it turns out that all the "sneak peeks" and photos I had seen prior were actually the only shoes released on Black Friday as their debut collection for us to drool over; in short, I had already seen everything before the site was launched. There was no element of surprise when I was given my showroom.

The thing I like most about Jewelmint and Stylemint is that even if I don't like what is in my monthly "showroom" there is the option to add more and basically purchase from the grand selection. With 6 pairs of shoes period, there wasn't the option to do this...So don't get me wrong, the 3 choices they had in 2 colors each, are pretty cool shoes.  I appreciate Shoemint's urge to be fashion forward but where are the flats? Where are my mid-range heels? Where is the true selection? I love high heels just like every other woman but 4 out of 6 pairs of these shoes have 6 inch heels! The highest I have ever gone is 4 1/2 and let's be honest, I don't wear those every day.

Out of all of their debut collection, I could only really imagine myself wearing the 4 inch wedges on a regular basis... and at $80 a pair, I want to be sure I am getting the most bang for my buck.

As of right now, all but one style on Shoemint is sold out... which leads me to believe that totally hyping up your demographic really does work but also that these shoes are marketable. I don't know.... I was really excited and then left a little underwhelmed by the site's launch. Though I am never one to give up on a new shoe line or a new place to get my fix, I am really hoping that the next collection has #1 more of a selection and #2 more of a selection... I just couldn't pull the trigger this time around.

Did you pick up a pair of Shoemint shoes? If so, have you received them yet and was it worth the hype?
