Sidewalk Sale + Street Festival at The Street, July 23rd

It's no surprise that I love The Street in Chestnut Hill, MA. I love to treat myself to almost everything there but nothing excites me more than the opportunity to hit up some amazing sales, eat some delish food and have a one stop shop for a day of fun. What am I talking about? I'm talking about the Annual Sidewalk Sale and Street Festival taking place on Saturday July 23rd, 10am-8pm. I took the Propah kid last year, and he had a great time running around, eating his first Shakeshack burger and helping Mom pick out some awesome stuff to take home. I expect this year to be much of the same!

Part 1 THE SALES!

Polka Dog Bakery: 15% off storewide
Ku De Ta: 25% off storewide
·         Brookline Liquor Mart: multiple in-store tastings throughout the day
Juice Press: spend $25 and receive a $5 gift card in return
Showcase SuperLux: purchase a $60 gift card for $50 or a $175 gift card for only $150

·         Bluemercury: gift with each purchase over $75 + Bronzing Bar and Strobing Station set-up outdoors

I also hear through the grapevine that there may be some amazing offers from Portobello Road and Splendid who will be presenting something special for the day... As well as Adler, Davids Tea, Pottery Barn, INTERMIX, Calypso, The Cottage – truly, everyone.

Part 2 POP-UPS!

Have you visited any of The Street's Pop Ups? I've seen almost all of them and absolutely love the concept.... whether we're learning or eating or simply shopping, the Pop Up Project is an amazing idea. Kane's Donuts, OMG! Bagels, The Third Piece, Sweet Lydia's and Papers + Presents will return for this day only. Hooray! They will be set up outdoors and “open for business” at various times throughout the day in various locations on property.

Part 3 NEW ART!

“CELEBRATE LOVE & HAPPINESS WITH ARTIST CURTIS KULIG. SATURDAY / JULY 23 / NOON - 2PM

Join the team at The Street as they unveil his new onsite mural ’99.9% Happy’ and enjoy a once in a lifetime opportunity to participate with Kulig in an interactive public stickering
installation that gives friends, families and fans a chance to be a part of his ‘Love Me’ movement first hand.” My toddler is OBSESSED with stickers so I am very much looking forward to this interactive art!

Part 4 EVERYTHING ELSE (and it's a lot!)

Live Music all day long, face painting and balloon animals, passed cotton candy and whirly pops... the atmosphere is sure to be AMAZING! I know that if I bring the family, there will be shopping, treats, fun and lots to see no matter what we're looking to do. I'm thinking a little "Treat Yo Self" to some Ku De Ta and Shakeshack is in the cards for lil' ol' me! ;-)

Will you hit up The Street's Annual Sidewalk sale on Saturday July 23rd?

A New Shopping Experience + Bonus Recipe

This past week I joined a bunch of awesome Boston Bloggers at the new Cost Plus World Market in Framingham, MA... and it was a new shopping experience for me. The store is fantastic and certainly a feast for the eyes... but being the sophisticated and experienced shopper that I am, I intended to make this particular evening an efficient and successful shopping event, like I always do. What I didn't expect was so many different departments with so many eclectic wares from around the globe...  we each commented at one point during the evening, that we just didn't know where to start.

L-R: Noelle of Rue le Chat, Me, Becky of Pop and Circumstance, Shauna of Like so Pretty

Any and all "game plans" went out the window and I just started meandering around the store. Of course, I had to stop for the wine tasting, which then led to the wine, which then led to the beer and then of course, I had to ditch the basket and get a cart. The selection in a World Market is truly pleasing to any wine or craft beer connoisseur. I knew I had to grab my husband some seasonal brews since he was staying home to put the baby to bed. Plus, building a six pack for my husband happens to be one of the simple joys in my life, so I built one. After making many laps around the store, stopping to chat with some "old" friends (Hi Alana, Bev, Quiana, Karen, Jenna + photo booth gals) and some new ones (Hi Maiah, Kim and Nancy!), I set my sights on updating some of my kitchen gadgets. Among other things, I snagged some absolutely adorable ceramic measuring spoons +  bowls, that will make baking + cooking all the more tres chic in my home.  As you can see below, I just had to whip up a batch of my chili seasoning to test them out (my chili is delicious by the way so I am including my seasoning recipe!)

Floral Measuring Spoons
My Chili Seasoning Recipe:

1 tbsp. chili powder
2 tsp. ground cumin
1 tsp. ground oregano
1 tbsp. seasoned salt
1 tbsp cayenne pepper
1 tsp. dried minced onion
1/4 tsp. garlic salt

1 tsp black pepper
1/2 tsp sea salt

Combine all ingredients and store to make delicious chili whenever the mood strikes you! I make mine in a huge batch so it's ready for action like Shakira says whenever, wherever. *shakes hips in celebration*

Floral Measuring Set (similar)

The prices are on point so I'll certainly be making a trip back in the very near future. There were some larger items that I just couldn't bring home without checking my spaces (area rugs, chairs, lamps etc) but I know that I can be a good (no, great!) home to many an item from World Market. It seems like the kind of place that will be different every time you go in... and that is the kind of shopping adventure that I like to go on!

Have you shopped at a World Market store? What did you think?

Primark Hits Boston

This past week, I was invited to visit the new Primark store in Boston's Downtown Crossing. I had seen a Primark store on a previous visit to Europe but kind of forgot about them until all of Boston started a buzzing about their new store. I had never been so really didn't know what to expect but when I arrived, it was like an assault on my shopping senses. It was close to 8pm when I arrived (only an hour away from closing time) and the store was still being ransacked like they would never restock the shelves but I would persevere on this evening of shopping without a baby...

Like a lot of other fast fashion retailers (H&M, Forever 21, Zara etc), their offerings were plentiful, well, plentiful actually doesn't do the four floors of fashion any justice. There is something for, literally, everyone. Women's apparel does take up the majority of the store but there are also sections dedicated to children, men, shoes and accessories. If you need a breather, I'd suggest taking a respite in the men's section as it did seem to be slower. In addition, the Men's registers were also more bearable... but I will say, that there won't be a slowdown any time soon. The prices are kind of unreal and with Boston's poor college students back in town, well, I know where their expendable income is going. *money flying away emoji*. I spent a good deal of my sweet moola on the activewear, which while very affordable, is still a pretty great quality. I snagged a couple shirts for the little stud in my life, plus grabbed some shoes. I was pretty happy with what I left with, but the trouble with such cheap fashion is that you leave wishing you hadn't left anything behind, even though you had already spent a ton of money (though with a lot to show for it). I will definitely head back a little later this season when I have a game plan and a little more time.

Reason that I Like to Spend Time at The Street

Recently, I have the awesome opportunity to spend a lot of time at The Street. I'm sure you've seen some of my Insta snaps of people, places and things, all from The Street in Chestnut Hill. I'll be honest, I don't live super convenient to Chestnut Hill and normally, I would scoff at the idea of driving on Route 9 but The Street? Well, The Street is worth the trip. I have headed out there for all manner of their Summertime at The Street events and each one was a success on it's own. There is something for everyone and I have really, honestly and truly, developed a super crush on this shopping center. Weird? Yes. But true? Yes.

Kickin' My Butt with New Activewear

This past weekend I was super fortunate to get the opportunity to get my butt kicked at a spin class courtesy of Flywheel Boston and Marshalls. I say fortunate with a little bit of hesitance since while I was peddling away on my spin stationary bike, I was cursing my life... but at the end of the day, I got a killer workout, with some killer folks in a killer outfit. Let me start at the very beginning... The #propahbaby and I headed out to my local Marshalls (also a HomeGoods, BONUS) to get some new workout clothes. This is a new year, and as cliche as it sounds, I want to get fit and lose that baby weight. As hard as it is to get to the gym or to yoga, it's that much harder when I feel like a frumpy dumpster. The other day, I legit wore my maternity yoga pants because I didn't have anything else clean. While those pants are comfy, for sure, they don't really make me feel like I am ready to conquer the world. The lil' dude and I took to the activewear, dividing and conquering. What I came home with was a whole lot of new gear that I can wear to yoga, to spin, to drop the babe at daycare and everything in between.

P&P: Top Holiday Party Looks

What do I think you should wear this holiday season? Personally, I will be rocking a sweater or two, maaaybe a Christmas Dinner dress but for those of you still able to snag cocktails and have a rockin' new Year's Eve, these are your top party looks according to me. I'll break it down for you: Family Pictures, Christmas Dinner. Holiday Cocktails and New Year's Eve. Check it.
*
Family Pictures: No need to make a huge production out of your family pictures. Casual is cute and that is the model I am living by this Holiday season, since I really don't have a choice. I am personally going to wear my reindeer sweater from Loft for pictures and the casual Holiday luncheon we plan to throw. Pictured: Reindeer Jacquard Sweater, Embellished Fair Isle Sweater, Holiday Sweater in FairIsle
*
Christmas Dinner: I know that some wouldn't think to wear a dress to Christmas dinner since this cans sometimes be a casual affair but these dresses are sweet and comfortable PLUS they are forgiving on the waist line when you eat too many Santa cookies. Pictured: BR Ponte Fit and Flair DressNeedle + Thread Multi Lace Stitch DressOld Navy Floral Shift Dress
*
Holiday Cocktails: Heading out with the girls to celebrate the holidays with a drink? Having a work outing not in the office but a fancy restaurant? Kick it up a notch with a fancy (but not too fancy) cocktail dress or pantsuit. Pictured: Chic Racerback Jumpsuit, Native Rose Lace Cutwork ShiftASOS Blue Floral Skater Dress

New Year's Eve: Here is your time to shine, literally. Sequins, metallics, white hot dresses... New Year's is a time to look classy but also look sexay. I am a big fan of leaving a little something to the imagination while still really feeling great about yourself .Pictured: True Decadence Sequin Dress, ASOS Origami Bow DressBA&SH Tiare Dress
