'Tis the Season... to Watch Christmas Movies

Last night at the Boston Bloggers event, I was talking to some of my favorite gal pals about being really excited to watch Christmas movies. I mean, the second that Thanksgiving was over, I was all about Christmas! Heck, the Christmas movies started even before Thanksgiving. We got to talking about what our favorite Christmas/Holiday movies were at this time of year. Every family has favorites; every person has the one that touches their heart or makes them laugh. I thought I would give you my personal countdown. Y'all ready for this?

5. Scrooged

It's a take on A Christmas Carol that I can actually stomach (A Muppet Christmas Carol is my next fave adaption) and the man and I both love this movie, which is saying a lot. We sometimes agree on movies in general, but Christmas movies, now there is little overlap there. I think it's that we both have a affinity for Bill Murray, Bobcat Goldthwait is really very funny in this movie and it's usually a welcomed change from the sugar sweet mush that is on ABC Family non-stop until Christmas (most of which I'll watch anyways).

4. The Santa Clause (and it's Sequels for the most part)

I love Tim Allen and I don't care who knows about it. I love Tim Allen especially in The Santa Clause movie franchise. Maybe it's because I can remember seeing the original in the movies with my Grandpa or maybe it's just because they are wholesome family movies that we can eventually watch with kids, but these movies are definitely in my top 5.

3. Love Actually

What is not to love about Love Actually? I mean, it has an all star cast, laughs, romance, fantastic story lines and leaves you feeling all together warm and fuzzy. Sure it has it's sad and somewhat heartbreaking moments but it is really a gem of a movie. As a Walking Dead fan, it's hard to now picture Andrew Lincoln (below) as anyone but Rick, the zombie fighting former sheriff but it's nice to see him all romantical again and totally crushworthy. This movie is on my yearly must watch list

2. Elf

I don't think that I have met anyone that doesn't think this movie is the bee's knees. Not only does Will Ferrell just knock it out of the park with hilarious quotables like "You stink. You smell like beef and cheese! You don't smell like Santa." and "SANTA! OH MY GOD! SANTA'S COMING! I KNOW HIM! I KNOW HIM!" but the movie is sweet and heartwarming, which is always important in a holiday movie. Plus, when someone learns a lesson about the way they live their life, bonus on the holiday movie front. I just love Elf. It makes me laugh over and over.

1. White Christmas

This is a family favorite and must be watched every year. I have found in my research that you either love this movie and have seen it a million times or you have maybe seen it once, having no clue what I am talking about when I start singing "Sisters, sisters, there were never such devoted sisters." I know that Bing Crosby wasn't the most admirable guy in the world but damnit if I don't love this movie, always and forever.

What are your favorite movies to watch with family and friends this time of year?
