A Marvelous Evening with Xfinity, Sponsored Content

*This post is sponsored by Xfinity by Comcast. All opinions are 100% my own.

You guys know by now that every once in awhile, the team at Xfinity like to invite me to learn about their newest gadgets and offerings but this holiday season, they most definitely upped their game! This year, we were invited to learn about X1 and the Amazon apps by celebrating the Season Two premiere of The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel at the Revere Hotel in Boston!

I met up with other local bloggers for drinks, treats of all kinds and a screening of the Season Two Premiere of The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel. The night was super fun, and the team at Xfinity and Amazon just wanted us to have a good time! After such a great evening, I was all on board to learn how Xfinity and Amazon Prime are working together. As avid Prime users ourselves, we know the value of our Prime membership and the Video App (learn about Prime video below). With Xfinity's new offering X1, it's a match made in holiday entertaining Heaven. Xfinity xFi simplifies the home network experience and provides many consumer benefits. Simply put, Xfinity xFi is an app that deserves to be on every phone (and in every home with an Xfinity xFi Gateway). After all, it’s an easy-to-use app that enables customers to see what devices are on their home WiFi networks, troubleshoot issues, and even pause their home WiFi connections during dinnertime.

The features you need are at your fingertips when you rent an Xfinity xFi Gateway and download the app. Can you see how this would make life more streamlined, especially in a tech savvy household?  My kids know how to navigate our Fire TV remote and I feel like they'd be quick to pick up the Xfinity apps whether we are at home or on the go. With complimenting products like Gateways and Xfi Pods, you can set up your home however you'd like, based on your everyday needs. The X1 platform is an Entertainment Operating System that gives Xfinity TV customers an interactive TV experience, which is something I know that my husband appreciates... and as always, Xfinity is super thoughtful of how their mobile devices pair with everything they do in the home. They've got plans that include everything your family might need; they're there to help!

Do you use Xfinity and X1 and if so, are you ensuring that you are making the most out of your system, at home and on the go? Check out all the services and how they work together to make the ultimate in entertainment for you and your family!

Capital One Boston Live Event

I was invited to attend the Capital One #CapXTalk and while this is a partnership with them, all of the following is 100% authentic and honest, I promise! Don't know what kind of panel discussion that Capital One could have that would be of interest to me? Well, being that it was Giving Tuesday and the theme of the discussion was on Investing and Impacting the Community for Good. Now doesn't that seem like something right up my alley? Well, yes it was. I'll be honest, I enjoyed the discussion a lot more than I thought I would. The #CapXTalk panel discussion is part of Capital One’s continued growth in Boston and ongoing efforts to reimagine banking. Reimaging banking, not something I thought I would write about... but just walking into the Capital One Cafe concept on Boylston Street, I was pretty stoked that there was a place like this out there (and 5 and counting locations in and around Boston with new ones opening soon in Lynnfield, Hingham and the Seaport). You can do your banking (duh), you can set up a work space, you can access banking tools and you can get coffee to fuel all of these efforts. Hello, pretty genius.

The panelists at this particular CapXTalk were obviously ones that resonated with locals, Michael J Egan from the Red Sox Foundation and Jessica Cox, Director of Harpoon Helps from Harpoon Brewery talked about local philanthropic efforts which were super interesting to me. I do fancy myself as someone who likes to try to do good in my community, donate money whenever possible to charitable causes, volunteer my time if I'm able so I found it really interesting to hear from a more corporate side what they think about when being charitable. I took some really interesting tidbits from the talk and wanted to share because I loved the messaging. Whether it was about the need to be a giving person or what it means to be authentic, even though this talk was presented by Capital One, it really did give me some things to think about.

It was really nice to see a big company like Capital One highlighting the good that they're doing not just nationally but on the local level. This latest #CapXTalk aligns with Capital One’s commitment to investing for good, with initiatives like Future Edge, a five-year, $150 commitment to equipping Americans with the skills they need to succeed in today’s digital economy, and C1 Coders, which helps to close the gender gap in STEM for middle school students. In Boston specifically, the brand has partnered with charitable organizations like Boston Cares, ABCD and Junior Achievement, and also launched the Give Back campaign, which empowers and funds Capital One associates to support local causes of their choice. For those of us who want to see companies wielding the power for good that we know they are capable of, this was refreshing reminder that there are companies doing it and doing it well, whether it's Capital One, Harpoon Brewery, the Red Sox and beyond...

You can manage your finances and also plan to live the type of life you want while also giving back to your community. It's really an adult thing to think about but hey, adulting is now my thing. If you're ever able to spend some time in a Capital One cafe, please do yourself a favor and take the time to take advantage of it. They really do give you the opportunity to use their resources to make your life better and more efficient. I'll take all the help that I can get, thank you very much. Totally interested? The folks at Capital One are like hey you guys, you can watch the stream yourselves! Check it out here and let me know what you think: http://bit.ly/CapXTalk

Welcoming Cost Plus World Market to the Cape- Hyannis Grand Opening!

You may remember my over the top excitement when the Cost Plus World Market store opened up in Framingham last Fall so it should come as no surprise that I am super psyched for my peeps close to the Cape to be able to experience the same shopping elation at their very own location opening in Hyannis MA on September 8th (this week!). There are some amazing Grand Opening events that, if you're within driving distance,  you should really make it a point to check out. You want the deets? Well, I've got the deets.

Grand Opening Weekend (Hooray!) September 8 - 11
Doors open at 9am on Thursday, 9/8

621 Iyannough Road
Hyannis, MA 02061

Store Hours: M-F: 10am – 9pm, Sat: 9am – 9pm, Sun: 10am – 7pm

There will be plenty of opportunities to take part in all the neat things that Cost Plus World Market has in store for their Hyannis opening. I think that meeting Rehab Addict Host, Nicole Curtis (Saturday Sept. 17th, 1-3pm, Be the first 200 customers to bring 5 non-perishable, non-glass items to donate to charity and get a signed autograph with Nicole.) is a pretty exciting happening! If your weekend is already booked up, never fear, they have some pretty great stuff happening each and every day. Thursday September 8th, be one of the first 100 customers in the door and grab a $10 gift card. The 8th- 11th free totes for customers each day, daily raffle drawings, live entertainment, tastings and more. Spend over $40 on the weekend and you can eve snag some free movie tickets... it's sure to be worth a stop in, not just for the shopping but to see what they've got lined up to celebrate!

I am leaving work early next week and heading down there for an evening of shopping (which I will surely update you on and am super psyched about). I honestly don't know if I'll shop the furniture or start grabbing gifts for loved ones since I'll be really, really pregnant by Christmas time. There have been some items that I have been oogling for quite some time now. I should probably get a wreath to replace the one that's been on my front door since April (whoops!). Who knows, I may have to pull the trigger on the metallic embroidered leather pouf that I definitely don't need but I definitely do want... all I do know is that I love to shop at Cost Plus World Market, the Fall Collection looks AMAZING ( I mean c'mon look at these lanterns) and this Grand Opening weekend should be no exception!

Snag your 20% coupon (yay savings!) for the Hyannis Grand Opening Weekend and get your shopping list ready!

Mom is Tired with a Toddler in "School"

My child has been growing at what seems an abnormally quick rate. It seems like just yesterday I was bringing him to his first day of daycare and now, in just a few weeks, he will be moving to the toddler classroom. It's strange to talk about a 15 month old like he is in school, but it fits the position we are in. Whether we like it or not, we are working for a living over here in the Propah Household so we have to put our first born in "school". We call it school because now that he's running and talking and playing with other kids, it's more of a learning atmosphere than a place that keeps our kid alive while we work.

Along with the new classroom, comes a new list of things that I need, which I really didn't think would apply to my life for a few more years. Wes' teacher asked me yesterday if I had a lunch box for him, which as I type this out, does seem like a reasonable question. But when she asked me, I was like umm, no, does he need one? Of course he needs one. I bring his lunch for him now, right? Oh, I also need to bring extra clothes not just for accidents but for when they have water play outside after it's rained. Extra, extra sets of clothes? What? This mothering thing has got me all "wide eyed" emoji face.... but I will persevere. Wine.

Halloween Decor on the Cheap, Prim and Propah Style

I have never really been into Halloween decor before this year. I don't know what clicked over this year but I knew that I needed to decorate (and make a crafty mess) for the spookiest of holidays.... that being said, I didn't want to spend a crazy amount of money; it's not like I was having a party or anything so it was basically mostly for me. I made some major scores at Dollar Tree, Target's Dollar Spot and Walmart. All said and done, I only spent $20! Want to see what I came up with?

A Rug Can Make a Room

I was originally going to write this post about redoing my somewhat masculine living room by merely switching out the area rug. I thought about something perhaps Jute and Sisal or maybe something more classic... but the more I searched Wayfair's excellent selection of area rugs, I was immediately inspired to do a play room for the little guy using the most amazing rug that I have ever laid my eyes upon, the Walk On Me Lion Kids Rug. He is obvi too young to notice anything I do, decorating wise, but it's great to use him as an excuse, especially when spending sweet moola is involved. ;-). I love that a rug can totally change a room. If you want to brighten it up? Get a lighter rug. Do you want to bring a more funky vibe to your living space? Well, get a funkay, fun rug! Wayfair has an amazing selection of fabulous rugs for every room and even your outdoor space.

I used the Walk On Me Lion Kids Rug as a centerpiece and built my play room around it! Sweet kids' table and chairs, add a dash of a bright colored bean bag chair, storage space and some jungle/animal inspired toys and I have a space that I could be proud to host a playgroup in! Do you have a space that needs sprucing up? Check out Wayfair's great selection of rugs and change a space by swapping one out!

Want 15% off area rugs from Wayfair? Use promo code RUGLUV04 which is valid for ALL Area Rugs from 7/31 to 8/4. Wayfair already has great deals so this added discount is most certainly a cherry on top of an already yummy sundae!

Sponsored Post: Gillette Venus #InASnap

Have you ever forgotten to shave your legs? I know I have forgotten or perhaps just been to lazy to do it... and then immediately regretted the decision once I was out in public. Well, the concern of hairy legs is out the window since Gillette has fulfilled our dreams of smoothy-smooth legs with a razor that we can take on the go.

With the Gillette Venus Snap, there is no need to worry about prickly legs! Did you watch this all to familiar video from renown video blogger, Tessa Violet? She teamed up with the team at Gillette to create a Venus Snap song that is pretty funny as well as easy to relate to being a woman who appreciates the opportunity to bare some skin in the warmer weather. Going to the beach, a Summer party or headed on vacation? The little carrying case is cute, so toss it in your purse and steal away to the bathroom for a quick shave if it slips your mind in the shower... This absent minded Mama has can appreciate that! It sounds silly but you won't be sorry feeling more confident with smooth legs and a winning attitude thanks to Venus Snap.

Turn that missed spot into a chance to be in the spotlight! Tweet your "wish-I'd-shaved" moment to @Gillette Venus and video blogger Tessa Violet might turn it into a song #InASnap!

Gillette Venus Snap lets you experience instant smoothness on-the-go. With five curve-hugging blades and a portable compact, you'll be ready for anything, anytime, anywhere. I won't be caught in a prickly situation again!

Throw a Summer Party, Entertain Like a Champion

Guys, I love Summer. I love the extra daylight. I love the abundance of fresh food at farmer's markets. I love heading to cookouts with friends. It's just a fun time of year. In spite of the fact that it rained for a month and now it's sweltering hot the next month, I was determined to make the best of it by throwing a superbly smashing Summer soire! We have been grilling a lot lately so I thought I would switch things up and go with a a more finger foods oriented dinner. This dinner party was going to be fantabulous. To beat the heat? We went the "fresh" and "cool" route.
