5 Things I Want to Teach my Children

I have been thinking a lot lately about how I want my children to behave. Not behave as in, No Temper Tantrums, Please but more so how I want to see my children behave as people of the world. It's hard to make a "game plan" as to how you want to raise your children because, dude, on some days, I am doing whatever I can to make it through... and I only have one for now! But I am starting to become more conscious of how my actions are molding my child; how he sees what we do and mimics it. For now, it's simple things like opening doors but soon it will be behaviors and in the way that he treats people... I am certainly not going to get all preachy on you guys but I wanted to put out there, sort of a mission statement, on what I want to teach my children, so that they become good citizens of the world.

Father's Day the Harbor Way

Yesterday was our first Father's Day celebrating with a child who was up for a good time! We didn't let the torrential downpour stop us from heading into Boston to grab some cold beers and some delicious food on the water; + we were also spontaneous (more on that later!). We landed at The Barking Crab early afternoon to check out their new deck set up. We were met with one of my favorite sights when we have the baby with us... other families! I breathed a sigh of relief that if my child wanted to be a fun loving, french fry eating baby, then he was welcome to do so at TBC.

Our Outer Banks Adventure

We got home around midnight last night. Our return trip from the Outer Banks was harrowing but we had such a lovely time on vacation with our family, that it made it worth it. We discovered some things on our trip, such as our young baby's distaste for sand, pools and most everything beach related lol but we also had some great walks with the dog, an adventure at the NC Aquarium, shopping at great local shops and just chill time by the pool with family. A week is a long time to spend in a house with 13 other people but now I am starting to miss it!

Shout outs to Village Yoga (for the amazing gentle yoga sesh), The Island Attic (for the great vibes + awesome handmade goods), The Christmas Mouse (for getting me in the Holiday mood MONTHS in advance), Brew Thru (for friggin' letting us drive through to get our booze!)

What are you fantastic Summer plans?

My Natural Bath + Body Faves, No Really

I am here to tell you that my bathroom has had an almost complete overhaul as far as my quest for natural beauty is concerned. After that eye opening beauty event earlier this year, I started replacing my purchases with other, more Earth and body friendly ones. The products pictured? Well, yeah, they're what my family is currently using and I'm really pleased to share some of my faves with you, totally unsolicited.

Planting Parties are all the Wave

This past Monday I kissed the baby, gave my husband the peace out sign and hit the rainy roads up to Winchester, MA for a Wave Petunias event at Mahoney's Garden Center. I was invited to a gardening party thrown to show some local gardening aficionados how to create the perfect planter using lots of different kinds of plants, petunias included obvi. I'll be honest. Before this week, I can't say that I have ever used petunias in my gardening. I guess I thought that they looked hard to care for and keep alive. This mama needs a hardy plant that can take a lickin'... Well, I found out that petunias should be one of my "go to's" in my gardening future + I learned lots of cool tips for generally caring for my potted plants. Check out my recap after the jump and glean some worthy gardening wisdom if you please...

I extended the invite to my good friends Bridget and Marb, who jumped at the chance to #1 get out of the house and #2 get their hands dirty. Marb started a new hashtag as far as I'm concerned " #DirtDontHurt". Oh how we laughed...We started off the evening with some bites and sips, I mean it's not every day that you get to garden while drinking wine. Well, I don't get to do that every day. In any event, the rain didn't stop us from getting to know each other and start getting our creative gardening juices flowing.
