NuNAAT Keratin Touch Treatment

I am always up for a new treat, hair wise. I mean, my luscious locks are my trademark after all (cue laughter) so why not do everything possible to make it as stunning as possible. Am I right? I was pretty excited to try to the nuNAAT Ultra Keratin Touch kit. If you are not familiar with Keratin treatments you can check out this site which I found pretty informative on the topic. Done at a salon, this treatment of your hair can be upwards of $200 and giiiiiirl, I am planning a wedding; I can't be shelling that out for my hair right now. So what did I think of this kit, which is substantially more affordable at $24.95? Check my hair in a post last week to see how it lacked refinement...

I actually waited awhile after I got the kit to actually go through the process. The time you should allow yourself is more than I had originally wagered, which is not a knock against the product. I just didn't know. In all, this took me about 2 hours to complete. So be prepared to spend your Saturday morning on this (because you are going to want to style after all the work).

The process starts with an Ultra Care shampoo which has a really great smell. I did this in my shower after hot yoga, because I was showering anyhow. Once out of the shower, the instructions said I needed to blow dry. Note: my hair does take forever to dry period, so this could account for how long it took me to complete the entire process. Once my hair was dry, it was time to apply the Ultra Smoothing gloss. This portion also smelled really great so there was no problem there. Sit and wait 30 minutes. I was afraid that the gloss, which felt like an oil, was going to stain my clothes so I was sure to wear ratty clothing.

After the 30 minutes, we had to blow dry this mop of hair again. I will say that this provided difficult to me because my hair is so thick that I couldn't tell if it was completely dry with the oil. I dried it a little more for good measure and then took the hot iron to it. It was at this point that I really thought this treatment was doing more harm that it was doing good. My hair wasn't in horrible shape before but when you take a flat iron to your hair and it begins to increasingly feel like straw, one begins to worry. I was committed so had to see this through. I ironed my hair in front of ABC Family as this was the lengthier part of the process and required entertainment. Shampoo with Ultra Care shampoo and condition with their packet. Now was the chance to see the results.

Unfortunately, I had to blow dry my hair again, which takes forever, but I was thrilled with the results. My hair hangs like it was done at the salon. I have never achieved this sort of look at home, no matter how many times I tried. While this did take me, what seemed like forever, I was really really happy with the results. Apparently, it's supposed to last for 30 days but let's just see what happens.

Have any of you had a salon Keratin treatment or done one at home yourself? Success or failure? I'd love to know!
